Trail Riding

Lueking Horse Farm, located in Clay County, Ill. was established in 1984, when Galen & Jacquie battled a snow storm to get married. The 175 acre farm has gone from 5 head to the current count of 25 head.

In 2000, we decided to get into the breeding of Quarter Horses with the purchase of "Cool King Michael." Since then, with limited mares bred and limited showing, "King's" get have been competitive in Halter and Performance classes.

We began boarding horses in 1998. Currently have 5 head boarded. These horses are able to be out to pasture during the summer, access to fresh water, delicious orchard and alfalfa hay during the winter. Boarding is also available to travelers through our state, either North and South or East and West.

Our showing has been limited to the Quarter Horse, even though we raise Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox Trotters and mules. "Cowboy Joe Clue" has won 1999 World Champion 3 year old Gelding, both Open and Amateur. "Cool King Michael" was Illinois Quarter Horse Association's High-Point Stallion 2001.

In addition to showing Quarter Horses, our favorite past-time is trail riding. We were introduced to more extensive trail riding in 1996 at a dude ranch in Wyoming. Since then, we have been to Montana, Colorado (several times), Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and Arkansas.
